If you come across native wildlife that appears to be injured or suffering (e.g. from heat stress), contact a wildlife rescue organisation for assistance. Or, contact your nearest vet for advice. Note: some animals, such as bats, flying foxes and wombats may carry diseases that are fatal to humans.
Deliberately injuring or killing native wildlife is illegal in Victoria. Heavy fines are imposed for offenders.
